I took the diesel on a "run in" to Louisville, KY after a tranny rebuild last week. I parked at the back of the Medical office complex and was reading a magazine under a shade tree when a guy pulls up in a GMC pickup, walks over and says "I want a diesel myself". I enquired what he was towing and he stated, I don't have anything to tow. He said he had this camper he hauls once a month and needs a long bed 4wd to put it on. I told him he didn't need a diesel for his requirements, perhaps a Hemi 1500 or 2500. The guy was a Doctor in the complex and camps at some land he owns near "Land of the Lakes". I sent him to the Dodge dealership on the Dixie Highway and they of course could answer his questions appropriately. Hauling loads I can figure, but a camper on a truck "forget it" (send them to the pros).
So today I go to our local town to Norby's Farm & Fleet and in rolls a 2500 Hemi 2007 4wd. This guy gave me a pretty good education on the capabilities of the 2500 Hemi (according to him the gas mileage was bit better than I would have imagined). This is not so unusual considering our only dealership in town is Dodge Chrysler/Jeep.
I travel on to Walmart for a few items and come back out and there's my dream truck parked beside the old farm truck (2012 3500 Diesel with an aluminum flatbed, tool boxes, king cab, 4WD power everything, flip gooseneck ball, 5th wheel bolt pattern pre-drilled ). The guy is from Columbia KY and says he'll let it go for 38k and it has 38,819 miles on it. I meet him Sunday at his farm.
