I am wondering the same thing. I have read you can get 3mpg better mileage with the tuner. My calculations came up with a break even point, assuming $4.00 per gallon for gas would be over 100,000 miles. There must be a better reason than 3 mpg improvement.

Plus it gives you the ability to tune your truck if you plan on modding it more down the road. Like headers, cams, fuel injectors, CAI, etc

Better shifts and shift points, response, power, you can turn off your mds if you dont like the sound with a louder exhaust.and the slight mpg gains that come along with it.

Plus you can make calculations to corret your speedo if you alter the tire size, plenty of other engine monitoring stuff and do 0-60 and 1/4 test

Im sure im missing some stuff but im sire others will chime in.

+1 on what Shawnu said, I bought mine cause I was going nuts on the transmission shifts, but since I got my tuner, Its night and day, love how my truck shifts now.

In my experience with tuners gaining 3mpg is imposable (with a stock truck). Maybe, big maybe 1 at best. Crisper shift points yes. Maybe a couple HP gain with a performance tune but not much. Nothing you will really notice. I think most people get a "placebo effect" from a tuner.

In my opinion the tuner is a cool gadget but unless you have modded the truck and get a custom tune based on your mods it's really just a gadget.

If there was a miracle cure to add 3mpg to s stock truck I am sure Dodge would have already incorporated it.

Don't believe 3mpg.

You get a little more power, definitely the best bang/buck in that aspect.

You MIGHT get slightly more mpg(maybe 1 or 2 mpg at most, but don't buy it for that you'll probably be disappointed).

You get a lot of "tunability", or "adjustment", or "control", etc...

I agree with this. If te truck is stock it's probably not worth the money. It's not the a diesel where it gives a 100 or so more hp on a gasser it's useless unless tuning the tranny. If someone bought one and thought putting it on the truck and expecting it to run 10's it's not gonna happen

I ordered mine to be able to turn down the torque management. I'd like my 400 horsepower truck to feel like it has some horses off the line.

This is soooo true
It just gives you something to look at and check 0-60 etc.
BTW you will more gas because you will always try to get what so-called power is advertised
