the best place to buy the proper spark plugs is ROCK AUTO, pricewise

auto zone & the other stores don't know which plug is which
the spark plugs are identified in 2 ways, the correct number & the Stocking #

they are made by Champion or NGK both are copper core

NGK MOPAR NUMBER .............. SP-LZFR5C11
NGK Standard NUMBER ............ . LZFR5C-11
NGK Part # 92174 at O' Reilly's
gap is .044

CHAMPION spark plug
REC14MCC4
Champion® Copper Plus - Spark Plug
Part # 446 at O'Reilly's
gap is .044
the owners manual, i believe says correct gap is .043
so you decide if it is worth re gapping, you have to check them out of the box anyway
in case the box got dropped sometime in the delivery stages

Thanks GT, right on brother! The reason i noticed my mpg dropped because i drive 60-65 on a 70 miles commute to work, with the mds on, i can get there 6 times on a full tank which is 420miles, driving with mds conservatively...ever since ive replaced them i could only drive 5 times to work before a fill up...its like i lost 70 miles of gas lol i dont know if that makes any sense.

Talking Tune up day

I just changed my plugs today, bought them from the dealer and they were Bosch plugs in Mopar boxes. All was going well until the coil boot was seized on the rear most plug on the driver side of the engine, well we all know what that means a trip to the dealer for a replacement coil, because no parts store stocks coils for my 4.7l engine. Had to go to two different dealers and bought two just in case. Good thing because I broke another one finishing up. While at the dealer a tech said they change the plugs when the motor is real hot to avoid the boots seizing onto the plugs. Truck runs good now with al the new plugs and air filter and coils and it only cost me $ 147.01 for a tune up and all day Saturday running around. Don't know about the mileage yet but I was getting 18 + on the highway before so we will see.

if you go back to the dealership for anything

ask them to look up any RRT's, TSB's, or anything else related to DRIVEABILITY issues regarding your Ram

they will know what you are referring to, whether or not they will do it, is a toss up

by the way, i had my plugs changed at 42,000 miles & the plugs were close to perfect, no sign of wear
when i had my plugs changed, i told them that i wanted my old plugs returned to me
the service writer looked at me like i was the flying purple people eater or something like that

i always ask for my old parts to be returned
unless there is an outrageous core charge
it seems that

my '09 Ram now has 93,000 miles on it & i am thinking that i will change the plugs again soon

Autozone has the 08+ 4.7L coils. Roughly $5-$10 cheaper per each than dealer. Supposedly NAPA has the boots separately, but I haven't confirmed.

Default Tire pressure and mpg

I would have thought all 2011, 1500 Rams were stickered 40 psi, but then again my tires are 17 inch. If that's your size and they are P series, 44 psi would be many tire makers' max allowed...mine are Goodyear. Have you personally checked psi when the tires are cold? If your dealer put in 35, it was likely done so when they were hot, and cold could be a couple of lbs. less. If all of what I've said above matches your situation, that would make your tires about 18 % underinflated (I do not know at what level TPI warns.) But definitely low pressure will drag down those mpg.

@dancianne.....that could be it! I`ll pump my tires to 40 and if my mpg gets better than that would be the tire psi all along.

Good luck with that Tongan. I worked at Michelin for many years, so I'm a bit of a fanatic about tire care and safety on the road.
