Seems like the program was designed to go down so much and then kick in to accelerate on grades to get back up to speed but not too soon as to go much over the set speed. I'm sure towing would affect this though.

Default Cruise control undershoot and overshoot

I just returned from a 6,000 km trip out East towing a 23' travel trailer with my '13 5.7L Hemi 4x4 CC Sport. When using the cruise control the speed would drop as much as 12 km/h before the cruise woud kick down a gear and start gaining speed again. The truckers were just loving me! Just as they would start passing me up a grade, the cruise would finally kick down a gear and the Hemi does what she does best and speeds right back past them again! It also seemed to cruise along at 2 or 3 km's below the set point and really didn't care if it wasn't running at what I set it at, it would get there eventually, maybe?
Has anyone else been having similar issues?
I noticed it was a little out of wack before pulling the travel trailer, but that was nuts!
I live by cruise control on the highway and have never seen a vehice with this huge of a range in speeds!
Would a tuner help? I'm assuming it would help the mileage of 21L/100km (11 mpg) cruising at 95 km/h (59 mph) with the trailer?
Horm;1189622 Call your dealer and explain you have a cruise control overshoot and undershoot. They can easily flash the firmware for better cruise control towing behavior.
Do you buy any chance have an aftermarket air intake?

I got curious as to what the Owners Manual says.

Its on Page 556

"Tow/Haul Mode
To reduce potential for automatic transmission overheat- ing, turn the “TOW/HAUL” feature ON when driving in hilly areas, or select a lower gear range (using the Electronic Range Select (ERS) switches) on more severe grades.

Electronic Speed Control – If Equipped
• Do not use in hilly terrain or with heavy loads.
• When using the speed control, if you experience speed drops greater than 10 mph (16 km/h), disengage until you can get back to cruising speed.
• Use speed control in flat terrain and with light loads to maximize fuel efficiency."

So apparently the Cruise Control is designed to be used for Towing as long as its flat and your load isn't too heavy.

Default Cruse

I had trouble sluggish, slow shift, surge on shifting. When it was new. Icould not tell when it shifted it was so smooth. Started like hesitation when it shifted in cruse and regular shifting. Took it to Dealer. They said a bulletin came through and a new flash for the computer. I thought it was smoke and mirrors. $65.00. Left minus the greenbacks but it runs smooth as silk again.

Since we are on the topic of cruise control, has anyone had issue with the "RES +" button? I like cruise control, and use it often. Since getting this truck though I am having an issue when trying to either increase speed via the "RES +" button or simple resume the preset speed already. When pushed, the cruise control disengages completely, or cancels I should say. I get a message on EVIC saying the cruise control is ready. To explain further I can be humming along at 75mph, and want to go to say 77 to keep up with traffic. On the first push of "+" it cancels the 75 and nothing. This isn't all the time either, as I've read in the manual that if too much is going on the comp may disable things, but this isn't like that. It happens more than I'd like, but not all the time for sure. I can't stand it. Anyone else notice this? and I'm not bringing it to the dealer for this either. Too trivial and they'd probably never duplicate it.

firemarshall, i have sort of the same kind of issue, but it seems to affect all my cruise control buttons, if i have cruise turned on but not set, and i try to set it, it takes almost a double click of the button. same if i am set and want to increase i have to double tap the + button. its wierd...its almost like the first press wakes up the system and the second press actually does whats intended. I barely notice now but for the first few months it drove me bonkers!

I use the cruise daily, plus use the +/- to adjust the speed often and never had what you described happen. I do know if I accidentally press two buttons at once it will cancel, but hit 'res' once and comes right back. Could be something going on with the steering wheel buttons.

I was towing last night on flat interstate and my cruise dipped to 57 when I had it set to 60 and it just sat there for several miles. I pushed the gas pedal slightly and it shifted and got back up to 60 and stayed there. When I'm not towing the cruise stays spot on all the time.

Another question is do you have larger then stock tires on? That will effect how the cruise control operates as well.
