Default Magnaflow and general exhaust info

So I've been following and reading many of the posts here and a bunch of reviews on Amazon for the Magnaflow 14" muffler. Everyone seems to be getting the 12198 or if an 18" the same variation of inlet/outlet pipe sizes, 3"IN/2.5"OUT. So I picked up the 12198 with it's 2.5" outlets and knowing that I was going to need the additional 3" offset inlet pipe I figured I'd be letting a shop handle the whole thing. Stopped at a shop last week one night and they threw it up after saying they could fit it in at the end of the day (I called them around 4pm, close at 6). While up the tech is measuring around, looking and analyzing things. Calls me out to the shop bay since I was going to wait for it, to tell me that he's going to need some extra time to fab up the 2.5-2.25" outlets that if I bought the one with 2.25" outlets it would've been much easier (I think it's model 12918 for 3"/2.25"). He said that it wasn't a problem using the 2.5" but just going to need some additional time to get some adaptors welded to the muffler. I ended up bringing it back to them on Sat and left it in the morning. Took them a little under 3 hrs to finish it up, but they originally quoted me 2hrs + some materials. Long story short, I suggest that if you're looking at getting a muffler replacement, going with 2.25 outlets which should make your install a little shorter and hence a little easier and cheaper. I'm curious now what the MuffleX units use on the DOD14 and 18 since many say they are bolting it on themselves within 45min.. I did read a review or two that stated on the Mufflex or the 12198 that the clamps were extremely large for the connection. Now it makes sense and I should've went with my gut and ordered the 2.25". Oh well, lesson learned.

The muffler sounds amazing though! Couldn't be happier. No drone at highway, a little bit depending on what gear your in down low (30-50), but she definitely sounds mean now. If any one has any additional questions let me know, I'll try my best to help.
