LSD 392 8 Speed and Its just too cool. Pulled My 7700 Lb Camper this weekend pulled it with ease!! 8 Speed is really nice. 55 MPH pulling about 8500 to 9000 lbs loaded @ 1900 RPM like a walk in the park.

Sorry. Guess I'm too new to this forum to know this issue has been well doc'd already. I have my window sticker and the only gear ratio listed is 3.21. This made it tough when making my purchase decision. I was looking at both a Black Edition crew cab 4x4 with Hemi, 6-spd, 3.92 and the Express 25C package and a maximum steel crew cab 4x4 with Hemi, 6-spd, 3.21 and the Big Horn 25Z package. To complicate matters, I tow a camper that's just over 7000 lbs., which unloaded is near the tow rating limit of the 3.21, but I really didn't want the lower mpg 3.92 gears either.

Ultimately, it was the better equipment package that won me over to the Big Horn (much to my teenage son's displeasure......he likes all blacked out trucks...I gotta have me some chrome on my truck!). So you can imagine my relief to find out I actually had the 3.55 gears on my truck. Not a chance I'm gonna make them put the 3.21s in. I would like to have had the 8-speed, too, but the only clearance sale 2013 trucks they had with that tranny were the high dollar Lamaries. Not complaining, though. I did get a $42K truck for $32K...

The 3.55 was the standard ratio and the 3.92 was a $50 option. Once the 8-speed was released for sale, the standard ratio became 3.21 due to the much lower 1st & 2nd gears in the transmission. The 3.55 & 3.92 were $50 options. The thing is though that Corporate forgot to tell the dealers of the change and even neglected to put it on some window stickers. People were ordering a 4x4 Ram with the 8-speed and didn't need the additional towing of the 3.92 so they didn't specify an axle ration thinking they were getting the 3.55. When their Rams were delivered, they found that they had a 3.21 in them. I suspect your 3.55 is part of the Big Horn package but I'm not completely up to date on the package configuration so I could be wrong. Also, as shown above your window sticker will list the standard ratio but is supposed to list the optional ratio somewhere on the sheet also. Some window stickers made it though with the wrong information and yours could be one of them.
Yeah, my sticker must definitely be one of those that fell thru the cracks. But believe me, I am not unhappy about the discrepancy. My Ram is a Big Horn with the 6-spd tranny, so 3.55s are standard. That's too bad about those ordering the 8-spds getting stuck with the 3.21s. I wonder who they could blame for that snafu? I also wonder if the axle ratio tow ratings are the same behind the 8-spd as they are behind the 6-spd?

I factory ordered a SLT with the Big Horn package (Hemi & 8 Speed Trans). The standard gear ratio was 3.21, with the 3.55 and 3.92 ratios listed as $50 options each. I paid the $50 to get the 3.55 gears. The window sticker, build sheet, and label on the axle tube all show 3.55 so it was built as ordered.

Tow Rating Info - don't forget to set the info for your vehicle near the top of the page. The 3.55 gives you about 2,000 pounds more towing capacity over the 3.21 axle.

3.55 A/R here, I bought off the lot and didn't have any 3.92's to pick from.
I did at least get one with the Anti Spin though.

I was actually reading somewhere that the 2013 Outdoorsman was coming standard with the 3.92, but I don't think that is the case. How do you tell?

Look under the truck and see what the sticker says on the differential housing if its new sitting on the lot. You could also request a build sheet from Chrysler with the vin number off the off the truck.
