3.55 after Ram paid to have my gears changed...orginally the truck came wirh 3.21 and since the 3.55 or 3.92 were the only ones available at ordering they went back and put the 3.55's in. It took some work and time but they made it right.

Don't have the 8 speed, have the 6 speed but like the limited slip and 3.92 gears my truck has.

3.55 w/ anti spin. Just curious, why can't you get 3.55's with the 14's?

Some one on another post speculated its because of the 8 speed having enough grunt in the first three gears to equal the same pull of a 3.55 but will not match the pull of the 3.92 thus only two for the 8 speed being 3.21 or 3.92 in the 5.7 Hemi's. Another post on here stated the weight tables will change for the 2014 with the 3.21 from a rate of 6200 lbs. to 8500 lbs pull capacity. Which would be the same as the 3.55 is rated to pull. But Keep in mind its all speculation nothing the Motor Company has put in writing yet. Now its all clear as mud...lol.

If they raised the 3.21 to 8500 lbs, why wouldn't they raise the 3.55? Unless they would just raise the 3.21 to cover the 3.55's former spot. The 3.55 is always going to have more towing capability than the 3.21 though.

I can see them eliminating one axle choice due to: a) lack of demand for the 3.55 b) eliminating the 3.55 to lower production costs (less options = more efficient production) or c) lack of production level availability of the 3.55 axle (ZF manufacturer's the axles)

Very good points. Guess we will wait and see what the motor company decided soon. It may just be the 3.55 ruled out in the 8 speed hemi only. It looks like the 5 speed hemi will still have the 3.55 option on the build page of web site .

I traded my 2012 express with 3.55 rear for a 2013 express 3.92 rear. The fuel mileage is the same or better and the driveability is much improved, especially towing my horse trailer with two big horses (6000lbs) I would actually prefer a 4.10 rear were it available on the express.I like the factory option brake controller.I swapped keys and with better interest rate lowered my payment 20. per month and got linex bed liner,3.92 rear, brake controller, factory hitch , uconnect and electronic package that the 2012 didn't have. Plus the tires on my 2012 were ready to be replaced and it was due a tune-up so that was about 1200. that I didn't have to spend.

Nice truck!! I really like mine too. 392 8 speed with Trailer brake and all. I tow 7700 lb Camper from time to time and single axle MC trailer now and then. I bought the 13 Laramie 8 speed in June it had wrong gear so it was a 3.21. they ordered me a 14 with the 3.92. The 3.92 is actually getting same mpg as the 3.21 and at times better than 3.21 did.

Power of the 8 speed hemi with the 3.92 is awesome!!!

How can u tell which gear u have?
I have a 2013 6spd hemi and it does 130km/hr or 80 mph at 2000 rpm.
I suspect that would be a 3.21 gear.

I was poking around the dealer yesterday afternoon, and actually looked under a bunch of the trucks to check the axles. There's a sticker on the bottom of the axle, on the driver's side of the differential. If you lean down just in front of the driver's side rear tire, and look back, you can see it.
I found several lower trim 2014 models with 6-spd that had the 3.55. Every single 8-spd had 3.21. I never saw a 3.92, which is what I plan to order.
