Clean it out, lol. Just kidding. But seriously, that's about all you can do for it. I assume you are talking about the throttle body area? I can't remember the exact reason but there is a line that runs into the intake pipe before the throttle body. Best I can remember it may be the fresh air source for the PCV. Over time small oil particles that travel through there collect on the inside of the intake tube and throttle body. That's why so many owners run catch cans on the fourth gen trucks but there is something unique about the way the third gen PCV system is plumbed that makes a catch can much more difficult to install. Remove the throttle body and clean it as best you can. That's about all you can do.

I would suggest getting some Seafoam spray that you spray directly in to the intake. Check it out here. It'll not only clean your intake, but top end too. Great stuff and not too expensive.
I installed a catch can on my 4.7 engine. It was kind of a pain, but it's in and I can't believe all the crap (oil) that it's catching. Can't believe I was letting all that junk go in to my intake. Don't know if it really helped, but it sure didn't hurt.
