Great mods. Rep points given. Oh and I use three of those black and yellow Home Depot tubs for paint equipment (I'm a residential painter), tools, and truck cleaning supplies. They're great value for the twelve bux each they cost.

I'm curious as an amateur to all this if the strips can be wired into the wiring block on drivers side behind panel to get same result

Here is a thought/question related to putting leds in the bed. Has anyone tried to tie into the bed light? (light embedded into the high brake light on the back of the cab) My Ram has a button in the cab to turn this off and on. Would be pretty cool to tie into that and then have a factory button to control the bed leds.

Nightrider, the following thread might be of interest to you. It not only can use the cargo light switch, it will also work with your remote. Get a chance take a peek at it.
