Default Best 5.7 replacment options on 03

I'm looking into replacing my engine but I want it faster as it's not my everyday driver making it into a project but not to big.I would think the ideal engine would be a viper motor from a srt 10 but sure I'll have issues with transmission issues as my truck is a 4x4.any input would help"what would you do".
My truck is a 03 quad cab,with 5.7 and around 100,000 miles dropped 2/4.5.
Haven't touched transmission or gearing performace wise it is stock,I do have a local tuning options, but I have no rebuild options as I don't know any shops work(specialist)with hemi.
Thanks for input.

It took me 11 years to figure it out but the best replacement I found was my '14 Ram. '03 trucks are too much a PITA to bother with.

Disagree. Only a pain if you leave them on 03 programming. look at hotwire auto.com
Send them your wire harness and he will mod it to work with a 2005 ecm. And sell you a flashed 05 ecm for around $300. Wire mod around$700. But WELL worth it. Speaking from experience. Then re-work your top end. Maybe 268 or bigger cam, better valve springs push rods and new roller lifters. Custom tune the ecm to mate with the cam and bam! 400+hp. I just bought all my valve train parts cam and under drive pulley from rpmoutlet. Also look into Bully performance, they are a major outfit on this forum.

And doesn't take a specialist to work on a hemi. My dumb self and my step dad do all the work ourselves.

I like this idea but I would have to take all my wiring out?

yes, but its not as scary as it may seem. I was skeptical of doing the work myself at first. basically its the harness that gos from ecm, to all motor sensors, and accessories like alternator a/c compressor, and across to the connector behind the battery mounted to fire wall. then theres a couple of connectors right behind the motor and then the trans sensors and O2 sensors. It was a worthwhile investment time and money wise.
