My dad is welder/pipe fitter so I'm going to try and do it by ourselves. Anyone care to share experiences?
If you're aware the 22" Magnaflow muffler is considerably shorter than the stock unit, you have a welder and some spare 2.25", 2.5" and 3" pipe on hand, you'll be fine. I would also suggest having some extra hangers on hand as the 22" does not have a provision for hangers (and the stockers did), and I thought it was a good idea to make sure it was held up there well instead of stressing the hangers before/after the muffler with its weight.

as said earlier, dumping them post axle will get rid of the drone as it's the piping causing it...it'll be quieter than you think (vs the loud pre axle dump)...also, is the body narrower? the body on mine is 5 x 11 x 22, I use to run a 4 x 9 x 18 and that droned alot...

What do you mean dumping them? Mine is the 5x11x22 too. Maybe an additional exhaust hanger will help I'm hoping.

Thanks... I bet the lack of support is causing the droning/resonance to be amplified... I'll try having the resonators removed and some additional hangers added... hopefully that'll do the trick, because it seems to be getting louder by the week.

doing turndowns after muffler, some do it right after muffler and some do a turndown after axle...I actually took my single in/dual out magnaflow and rotated it 180 degrees to make it dual in/single out.. i did that to give it a true dual feel...

years ago when I was experimenting..I just swapped my muffler out, and took out resonator and had exhaust piping come out like stock...that droned mike a mutha... then I just did turn downs right after muffler before axle.. the drone totally was eliminated but it was louder than I wanted it to be... my bother in law had done the same thing in his 5.9 dakota, then my sister told him it was waaay too loud so he decided to do the turndowns after axle and i swear it halved the loudness incab and it was perfect..I did the same and that;s the way I've been driving it over 5 years and over 175k miles, I've swapped the muffler out twice when the packing broke down but didn't change how it was setup...
