Default 2011 Hemi Random Bad Knock-Fan Clutch

HI all

My 2011 Hemi Ram has all of a sudden developed what sounds like a knock but it is random and very loud. Sounds like a dull thud only at idle warm or cold. I was going to pull the belt off and start it thinking it might be a idler pulley or belt tensioner and noticed while the engine was HOT after driving from KC to St. Louis the fan was spinning slow....I was able to actually grab it and stop it by hand while the engine was running and could feel the knock in my hand through the plastic fan. Anyone heard of this and do you think my fan clutch may have given up the ghost? Truck has 67K miles FYI.

well scratch that....pulled the belt off and started it up still knocks. seems to be coming from the bottom of the engine possible wrist pin or Torque Converter. Happens in all gears only at idle.

Take to dealer for warranty. Have then document noise. Too many HEMI's have this problem.

Here is the latest after 5 days in the shop....bad lifter or lifters. They are telling me that the lifters may have rotated in the bore and will need to be replaced. Pulling both heads and doing the work. The more i dig into this it appears that this is a more common problem and a fairly in depth fix. I am not talking about the valve Tick....i get that but this is a knock that sounds like a rod bearing and amplified via the exhaust. The Mopar brand has lost a little luster in my book as valve train components should last longer than 60k miles. I do understand that sometimes bad parts go into cars and with 16 per engine there are a lot out there but really?
