Default MPG bar on trip computer sluggish and readings inacurate

2013 Express
4x4 CC
5.7 - 3.55

i always leave my truck on the MPG menu screen and have noticed over a handful of times that the little green MPG bar is sluggish and slow to respond to gas peddle conditions...

a few examples are when coasting, the bar sluggishly moves to the right showing 30+mpgs and when you put your foot back into the gas peddle, it's slow to drop back to the left... also when falling back to the left, it leaves "lagging pixlels" like if you were to turn a bar graph sideways, the pixel lines fall to the left at different rates...

also the overall MPGs seems to be off or is at a very slow refresh rate... definitely a glitch in something which i'm sure it's related to the green bar not acting right and being slow...

when it works, everything seems to work well... when it doesn't, it's just a little bit messed up... some days when i start the truck, it's back to normal and other days, it's back to it's glitchy self...

although this isn't my dash, it's the same one that's in my truck... anybody else have a problem with glitchy menu screens?

dawoodsman will become famous soon enough

I have the bigger evic screen on my outdoorsman. I wonder if something isn't wrong in your screen from your description.

I learned to ignore the instant MPG rating right away as it jumps around so wildly it's distracting. Part of that is due to the 8 speed tranny I think--initially I think it hunted around a bit, then I suspected that it was dropping cylinders at times, maybe it was closing the grill shutters another time-- but there's no way to know. You'd see the thing jump up to 30+ mpg without moving your foot at all, then drop just as fast. The tranny shifts so smooth that you have to watch the tach close to see changes sometimes. The instant mpg and the "miles left to drive" are all instant readings it appears to me, so anything that sucks a bit more gas even if temporarily--or anything that sucks less--can show sudden MPG changes.

The computed range (miles left on the tank) figure increases or drops at a bit slower rate on mine.

I also have the bigger evic in my sport and it seems to respond very well and doesnt seem sluggish at all, I dont really pay attention to what it tells me for mpg over the course of my tank of fuel (I reset 1 of the trips for every tank and hand calculate multiple times during the course of the tank) it is consistently a couple of mpg lower than what I actually get
