Thumbs up 5100s>Leveling Kit, I've seen the light

I HATE changing shocks...hate hate hate hate. I put on HDs at about 42-45K and ran them with my Truxxx leveling kit. One blew out so I finally got some 5100s.....wow. Soooooo much easier to install, AND the ride is still good, I think they are a hair stiffer than the HDs on the highway.

Anyhow, 7 hours and I'm impressed!

They are pretty sweet huh? But just wait till they're broken in at like 8 or 9 hours. Then you'll be really stoked.

What do the front shocks have to be set at to get the front level with the back?

I've read on other threads that the 5100s need to be maxed out to level the truck. No first hand experience here though.

Speaking of which I am thinking of going the 5100 route. What is the ride quality like with them maxed out as opposed to stock shocks?

Smooth out the ride a little bit?

I think it's going to depend on 2x4 or 4x4 and the rear. I have heavy duty Monroe load levelers and I had to put the shocks ALL the way up and it's level...if not a hair lower in the nose.

Just depends on the suspension. On a 1500 with the quad coil suspension it probably only takes one or two clicks

They are a little bit stiffer than HDs maybe 10%-20%.
