Default 2001 ram 1500 heating/defroster problems

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 and I get heat and cold A/C but I cant use my heater because every time I do, my windshield gets fogged up. I turn on my defrosters and it makes it even worse. sometimes ill be driving in the morning and notice there is smoke coming out of my front vents (just above radio). I was looking around and saw on a dodge forum that people were saying that it could be the heater core then someone commented about maybe it being the blend door actuator motor. Like I said, I have full control of my knobs (most of the time) but no feet heat. I'm not sure what it could be. Also a couple years ago, some soda got spilled in one of the defroster vents. Could that be the problem I'm looking at? I didn't ever question it because i figured that had to be it. I did notice a smell that smelled like old cotton candy, thinking it was the smell of heated up sugar from the soda. Now I'm thinking more it smells like coolant

yeah coolant smells pretty sweet sounds like you might have a crack in your heater core. they are not fun to replace on that model either. After replacing the heater core in my 98 i think id rather keep the problem lol. no in all seriousness they arent fun to replace but it can be done and in the end you learn a lot about whats behind the dash in a truck.
