Default 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 K&N 63 Series AirCharger Air Intake

Hello Everyone!

I have a budget for a DIY intake system of about $250 and I found this beauty on Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/63-1561-AirCha...ger+Air+Intake

I have a 2013 1500 Limited 5.7 Hemi. I'm open to all opinions and suggestions. Is this a good deal for the price? The reviews seem positive but i'd like to hear from someone with a 2013 and this filter.

Thanks in advance for the help!

First off welcome to the forum bud! What are you looking for with the Intake do you want HP increase, under hood looks, a project just to make your truck yours?

when it comes to these new rams the stock air box is really dang close if not a true cold air intake (though highly debated and JMO) that being said if you just want performance and you arent doing anything else crazy with the engine/truck for the money you would be better off getting a drop in filter such as Green Filters, Airriad, S&B or something along those lines and you will see just as much gain out of that as a CAI

If you want sound when you gooseit some good looks under the hood that is not a bad choice at all but in that same price range i know you can get and S&B for right at 300 and it is a fully enclosed filter and looks damn sharp, other options is the air raid kit that uses the factory tube and just replaces the air box and looks good as well just some food for thought

Thanks so much Kamanhart! I just looked at the S&B, and it looks great! I am looking for some HP gains and a moderate growl (nothing too loud) and an increase in MPG would be awesome!

The general feel here is on the 4th gens the air box is already so good that the gains you get from a CAI are really nothing that can be felt in more than just the butt dyno honestly i wouldnt expect anything tangible in terms of MPG and HP becuase you are going from a good CAI to a good looking and sounding CAI but the sound and good looking engine compartment is why i put mine in my S&B really made it sound good when the hammer goes but i had an AFE intake before and it did the same. The other really good looking one and my favorite 4th gen intake is the Vararam i do not know the price but it is also a very good looking intake

Another vote for the S&B. Not much more in price and really looks good under the hood.
