Default Getting New Tires

I am looking to put new tires on my 2011 Ram 2500 4X4 SLT. I do not want to put a leveling kit on the front as I often haul heavy loads. I was thinking about buying the "Toyo Open Country MT" in size LT285/75R17 this is a 10 ply tire that is 34.1" Dia and 11.6" Wide. Can any one tell me if this will fit without rubbing. I am also planning for new wheels as well and would like to know thoughts on back spacing and offsets.

an FYI. if you level you can get air bags for the back to help with heavy loads.
and they are relatively cheap

problem solved, and u can run up to 35" tires with a level.

stock heigh you can go up to 285 wide on stock wheels. stock offset is +19mm so if you want ur tires to stick out some go closer to 0 or negative

Thanks for the Info. If I chose to stay with the stock height of the truck without level kit and airbags will the LT285/75R17 fit without rubbing? I don't mean to upset anyone because everyone has there own opinion and taste. I personally do not care for the leveled look.

My buddy who I sold my 08 Cummins to put those same tires on it, no rubbing issues at all, no leveling kit. Obviously different style trucks but I'm willing to bet you will be fine as well. I've seen 37's on a stock HD no level and minor rubbing so 34's should be fine

OP, you'll be able to fit the 285/75/17's mounted on the stock wheels on your truck no problem as far as clearing suspension goes. You could even go wider if you wanted. But without the leveling kit be prepared to do a little trimming or massaging on some of the inner fender plastic or front valance. I'm assuming you'll be okay though.

If you go with an aftermarket rim a 9" wide rim with a 0 offset will give you the least chance of rubbing. But that wheel/tire set up will be sticking out about 3/4" - 1" further than your stock set up. Just keep that in mind.

Thanks for all the great info. Can someone help me with another question? It seems that 5 different tire companies manufacture the same size tire LT285/75R17 and all 5 list it as a different diameter. Why is this?

How far off are the diameters between each brand? Every company's are sizes are slightly different. For example a 35x12.5 Federal Couragia MT actually measures about 34" x 12" while a 35x12.5 Nitto Trail Grappler actually measures about 34.7" x 13.5". That's just how it goes....

From what I'm seeing the width seems to be pretty consistent from manufacturer to manufacturer. It's the aspect ratio that seems to have a very big variance. Could rim width also play a part in the diameter. I have never really changed tire sizes on any of my trucks so this is new to me.
