Also an update on the carbon fiber deal:

Man, I love that carbon fiber. I really want to do something like that. Has your experience with it been good so far as far as quality and ease of use? Lovin the truck.

Get the primer stuff which helps a ton, Get a good heat gun because it will make your life easier.

Wow. Just flipped through your thread and am very impressed. I wish I had the money to do half of what you've been up to.

Our trucks are very similar, nearly twins (well, at least inside the cab now that you've started changing stuff LOL!) are very similar so I'll be watching your build for ideas. Thanks to your pictures, I'm finally sold on the carbon fiber and spray for the chrome and wood.. I'm a fan of chrome, however if it blinds me - it has to go! That center bezel is a pain!

Keep it coming!

So, did 16sq ft end up being too much, not enough or just right? Can you link me to where you purchased from?

Also, did you just plasti-dip the chrome bezels for the ac and shifter/cup holders? If not, what method did you use? I like the flat black matte finish you're sporting.

I'm wanting to duplicate what you've done to the center control console for starters. Depending on how well that goes, I'll move on to the door panels.

So you will need couple things:

Buy a heat gun!

5 Piece Auto Trim And Molding Tool Set
3M Primer
X-Acto Knife
3M Hand Applicator
X-Acto Knife Blades

I bought my 3M Film here:
Carbon Fiber Film

16sq ft was more then i needed but if all your going to do is your main dash then buy more then you need because you might need to start over. Never Know!.

You want to make sure its 3M Di-Noc Vinyl, It sticks great with that primer.

I also used this same wrap on my motorcycle panels. Works great.

I used the trim set to take everything apart and i used plastic dip, But when i do it again i will primer it and uses straight flatte black paint, I don't like the texture of plastic dip. Its ALMOST smooth but not like i want.

The door panels are a bitch to say it nicely. You can't remove them and the blue tape i had didn't stick, So i painted the wood and the trim and then peeled off the plastic dip where i didn't want it. It was a pain in the ass.

When i do the back doors i might try and remove the trim. You have to cut it away from the panel but i think it would be worth it.

Hope this helps.

Awesome info, thanks!

I've been studying your finished pic with my own dash and I've decided I like the brown wood accents (even though they're fake). I just want to wrap the chrome.. ac vents and shifter bezel for starters as they are the biggest culprits of glare. I really like the CF, thanks for the link. Thinking I'm going to order a sample size and go from there.

What would be your guess as to which size I need to order to just do the bezels for the ac vents and shifter? I'm thinking 4sq ft myself...

I have a heat gun and wonderful exacto knife set and blades already and have been meaning to buy the trim removal set. Beyond those, given my plan of attack, would I need the other items you listed?

On a side note.. I watched a video where they peeled off the backing and crumpled the hell out of it and then applied heat and it was still good to go to install again. Very cool stuff. Seems like it will hold up to me and my abuse during installation LOL!
