Default added a laramie steering wheel to a ST

wanted a leather wrapped wheel for my '10 st so i picked one up off ebay. installed today and have a couple issues. first, is the horn no longer works. i have heard i need to flash a new sales code into the pcm. any idea which sales code? second, can i make the evic scroll buttons (up/down-left/right) control my odo, temp, econ display? i did find a sales code to enable the steering wheel mounted radio controls (rdz). anybody know what else i may need to do to get this to work? the cruise control works just fine. i can live without the evic buttons doing anything but i really need a working horn. thanks for any help.

You need to add rdz sales code and i believe on 11 and older you need to splice some wires in the clock spring. Theres info on the wiring if you google it

The wiring mod will fix the horn and allow the proper communication with the bus system. The sales code is needed for the radio buttons to work.

hmm...dealer is telling me they are unable to add this sales code (rdz) to my truck. he is checking with chrysler about updating the sales code onto my build specs? then he thinks he can add the radio sales code. i found the thread on the other forum about the wiring mods, but i believe that is to get the evic cluster working. i did NOT add the evic cluster to my truck. i am perfectly happy with the stock ST cluster in the truck.

i will try and take a couple pics of the wheel and get them posted up.

EVIC or not you will still need the wiring mod since the horn is wired differently on the upgraded wheel. Also the wiring mod allows the radio buttons to communicate with the lin bus system.

I added the upgraded wheel to my truck and completed the wiring mod to get everything working then put the ST cluster back in to allow the mileage to catch up to the odometer, while the ST cluster was in everything worked as it should have horn and all.

The radio buttons did not operate until the dealer flashed the computer with the rbz code.

Since some time has past since I did all of the modifications to my 2011 it may be that Chrysler has changed their system and are not allowing dealers to just add the RBZ code anymore but hopefully they still can for your truck.

ahh, o.k. now i think i get it. so i need to cut the red and green wires under the steering column and run wires up to the plugs on the back of the instrument panel like the mod on the other forum shows, right? i am slightly confused as to the ground wire under the steering column tho. i merely tap a wire into the black ground wire without cutting it? then run that wire to a good ground under the dash? correct?

talked to my guy at the dealership and he was on the phone with chrysler and was gonna give me a call in the a.m. with the hopefully good news.

here's a couple pics...
