Default New Owner 15K Oil Change Intervals?

Have a new 2013 3500 with a 6.7 cummins. Oil change interval is recommended at 15K. Like to hear from others on this interval. Typically i have changed oil on my fords around 5K.

Also had problems trying to put diesel in the tank. Could not get fuel to flow smooth through the opening. kept shutting off. This is only the third time to put fuel in? Any history/help here?

thanks,

mwacosta

IDK specifically about diesels but there have been times where my gas vehicles didnt like the angle of the pump. Having managed gas stations before, the way these auto off pumps work is that they sense for fuel splatter and when received shut off. My bet is if you work on a different angle you might achieve better results. Frustrating huh!

Thanks. the fuel seems to flow OK at some pumps. the newer stations have been giving me the problems?

Still would like to hear something on oil change intervals. 15K is a long interval as recommended in the book, but I am sure it is correct. I think I will change mine around 10K?

Keep in mind the diesel runs a lot more oil in the sump and a much better filtration system. 15k shouldn't be a problem. I would probably do it at 10k if you were constantly towing.

15K is the upper limit for an oil change with Diesel. The solution is of course an oil analysis for the oil/filter combo you plan on using.
People will talk out their a**es (put two s letters in) about motor oil - but if you want THE TRUTH, for your diesel - have an oil analysis done.

Oil change interval is up to 15K miles. The EVIC will tell you when to change your oil... And if you're worried about the longer oil change interval, change it more frequently and/or getting a oil analysis done.

On the fuel filling, the problem is the 2nd flap on the fill neck. You have to make sure you get nozzle pushed in far enough past it to stop the burping. Many are stating that holding the pump at the 4 o'clock position helps.

Good luck!!
