Default Is my overdrive working?

I bought my 1997 dodge ram 1500 w/ 5.9L a year ago and was told it doesn't work, but I think it does, but im not sure. At 55mph my rpms are at 2300 and at 70 it is at 3000 ish, can someone tell me if that is normal or is my o/d not working?

Thats too high. Mine is about 1450 at 55, and about 1900 at 70 mph.

My 95 ran just a little over 2000 rpm at 75 MPH, and right at 2000 rpm at 55 mph... my 2001 Ram runs right at 1450 rpm at 55 mph and just a tick past 2000 at 75 mph. so thus I agree with LT... your OD isn't working.

Maybe "Patsfan" has his tires "deflated" and that's why he's over on revs.
