Default How to paint headlight housings?

Well.... today my dad pulled in ten minutes after me from work and told me to come look at my headlights. My driver side tinted cover was gone, and apparently he saw it shattered all over the road

So instead of buying a whole new set, I am thinking of just baking the lenses apart and blacking out the chrome housing in the headlights.

I am Looking for all advice and tips on best way to do everything and what supplies I will need.

Take a look at the black housing headlights from third parties. That'll give you a good place to start. They do leave some chrome near the actual light.

Yeah I have seen those.. I am pretty sure I know the basics of what to do.
Like put in oven at 250 for 10-15 mins, peel the lens off.. Then I am guessing wetsand, primer and paint.. but I dont know if I would need high heat paint because of HID's?.. Also what to use to seal it back up and how long it typically takes to do.

You wont need high temp paint

use butyl rope (same thing they use for windshields ) put in oven after you have sealed it with the butyl 200 for like 12 mins then take out and clamp for about 4 hours then run a bead of silicone around the housing to make sure you have sealed it
