Hey C17LoadMaster, are you Royal Canadian Air Force? Keep 'em flyin!

I'm always sceptical when I hear a 3 mpg claim or a 30 hp gain... even a 10 hp gain on a naturally aspirated engine is hard to come by. Makes me miss my twin turbo Audi that gained 70 hp and a ton of torque from a tune the increased boost from 9 psi to 17 psi and re-mapped the fuel. That was bang for the buck. The tuner I want to get for this truck has me worried I won't feel a difference for the $400 I spend. I plan to do an intake, headers, tune, throttle body, torque converter, nitrous, 17's w/ slicks, and maybe rear gears. I know those will be noticeable all together but other than the converter and nitrous, not sure if each one individually will be noticeable.

Then again I barely drive my Ram so it feels like a rocket when I do compared to my GMC Sierra that I drive every day. My poor Ram just sits in my garage. I actually drove it last week to the track but I didn't race it since I haven't done anything new and I think I already ran it as quick as its going to run. Might run it again in the cool fall air to see if I can get a 14.5 or better.

Heres my $0.02, after installing my CAI, I certainly noticed better throttle response at low rpm, and gained 1.8 mpg HWY. Now I have no legit numbers or scientific proof, just my experience. The mpg gain is HIGHWAY, and tested two 1500 km trips with stock intake and 3 1500km trips with the CAI. same load, same fuel, same route, same cruise setting and all within july-aug Albertan weather.

keep in mind that after I swapped intakes I reset the computer 3 times over a week of normal mixed driving to let the truck re-map for the different air flow, and it makes a huge difference.

Despite all the debate about different intakes not affecting MPG, I call BS, because I've seen the gains over and over again, but again its MY opinion and your all entitled to your own

i dropped in a AEM dry filter and I love the results. biggest gains were in throttle response and sound. mileage has improved only a little. anyone that says they are getting 3 mpg with a cai is a plain lair. the stock intake is really free flowing it just needs a better filter. So far my best mod was cutting out the stock muffler and installing the Aero Turbine XL 3030XL. this by its self really woke the truck up and boy does it sound sweet.

The guys that take MPG gains seriously as an auto hobby on its own such as hypermilers, or as a competition to try to get 50+ mpg out of their cars-and succeed frequently, do what they can to pre-heat the combustion air. Of course they have science on their side, and they track every tiny incremental change with precision.
You guys that throw a cold air intake on your 4x4, while also resetting your computer etc.. claiming 20% better mileage from cold air, should tell those hypermilers they have it all backwards.

Yes it has some drone at hwy speeds, I will say this the truck just sounds wicked. I have never heard anything like it and I have had open pipes on other trucks. it gets lots n lots of looks when you get on it. heres a link.

Got the muffler and 4" tip of ebay for $130 shipped. had it the next day which was a Saturday ftr.
