Default REN Radio Upgrade

I recently purchased an REN radio from EBAY to upgrade the one in my 2009 RAM. It is suppose to be the high speed bus. When I plug it in the lights around the buttons will light up but nothing on the screen. Do I have to get it programed from the dealer to make it work? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I will tell you, that the 2009 - 2012 Rams only use a High Speed Can Bus radio
( unless you install an aftermarket radio ) they can be found at the CRUTCHFIELD website
they will be listed under FIT or MODIFIED FIT

almost all of the radios for those years, could have the High or Low speed can bus
depending on the vehicle it came out of

also these same radios could have either top & bottom mounting tabs
or like the ones in the 4th Gen Rams use Side mounted tabs

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you go to this website, it may explain it in more detail
http://oemautopartsco.com/
you may also want to call this websites Help number
they may be able to tell you if the radios serial number is truly out of a High Speed Can Bus vehicle

if the radio was a used unit, it may not have to be programmed by the dealer to work with your Ram, but then again ......

The radio should work when plugged into the truck like mine did when I installed the RHR into my 2009.. It sounds like you have a low speed bus radio or a non working radio on your hands.

If you search the web for the mopar part number on the radio, you can probably find a description of it telling you what bus speed it is.
