I'll keep my hemi, at least it's fun to drive. If I wanted eco, I'd drive a Prius.

Again search cummins vs hemi and see who win 90% of them. Put 7000lbs behind each and race again, no contest. This small diesel was not developed to out pull or out race a hemi but to match it and double its fuel economy.

I agree with the last part of this comment. The Eco is designed to some what match the Hemi and get better gas mileage.

I don't care about racing while loaded.. that is just a foolish reason to even care about buying this engine. Just stick to what we really want here. More torque earlier in the RPM band and better MPG.

I am not that concerned with 0-60 time, more with economy this time around, as I currently have a Titan which is great 0-60 but gets 13mpg. So seriously looking at 1500 diesel. Of course might have to wait for info on the 2015 Titan with cummins .

Thought I would post this though because it the first real review of the Eco-diesel so everyone can get some comparison to a Hemi. Not sure what the 0-60 is though on a fully loaded Longhorn crew with two big guys and A/C on, looks like published times are in the high 7's for sports prob one guy and no A/C. I am thinking the diesel will be a second higher than the hemi all else equal.

Should see more info coming out now as the media embargo lifted today on the RAM eco-diesel, that why this video posted at midnight. TFLTruck.com looks like they have an offroad test already shot and a towing test in the works.

How about real-world applications. merging onto a busy highway, passing when needed, or maintaining speed up a steep grade. the tow race is just an illustration of these capabilities

I'm sure the numbers are similar for rams. Pluses a diesel will respond tremendously to a programmer where they are a joke for gas motors. Search YouTube for Cummings vs Corvette or mustang videos and see who wins.
My smack gets 16mpg mixed driving and 15mpg towing a 6000lb boat at 75mph. I expect this truck to get 25-26 towing my boat.
Yea modified diesels vs stock or near stock cars. There's plenty of really fast gas powered cars and trucks out there too. I'd run any stock diesel pick up with my lowly HEMI Tradesman.

Too many variables to get too upset about the 10s time. Like someone else said above, need to see apples-to-apples comparison. Same truck, same trim, same road, same load.
Watch TFL's video for the 2013 0-60. He did it a couple of times and got fairly wide variations.
I bet if you add 3.92 gears, this is going to be downright respectable. And the power is on tap wherever you need it, not just at the higher RPMs.

What is a near stock car? Wouldn't that be a a modified car? I do not know much about rams, I actually have never been a fan but said I would buy the first half ton diesel that came out.
I do know that my stock duramax can beat the pants off my buddies 6.0 Chevy. Especially if we have a load behind them. I get 15mpg at 75mph towing my boat and when he towed it got around 6mpg. Mine never shifts out of overdrive his is constantly shifting. I'm sure the hemi is fairly comparable to his 6.0 but don't know that for sure.

My point is a stock Duramax is not going to out run a Mustang GT, Corvette, Camaro SS, Challenger R/T, or a Ram 1500 HEMI. These videos of Duramaxs beating Corvettes and Mustangs are not stock trucks.

I agree a stock 3/4 ton dmax is not going to beat those cars or a 1/2 ton hemi but it will beat a 3/4 gas truck. And for $500 give or take of modification it will neat those light sports cars.
