Default Faded paint after removing badging

Good morning, I recently purchased an 07 Quad Cab(Inferno Red) I removed the RAM 1500 Nameplate off door, and 5.7 HEMI Plate off fender. No problem removing, but after cleaning all adhesive off paint, you can still see the logo where it sat. It is now a lighter color red, almost orange tint to it. You can only see it when the sun hits it right. What do you think, I was going to hit it with 1500 or 2000 wet sand paper, then machine compound. I'm thinking when plates were installed, the clear wasn't set up properly. Do you think this will work without F*****G it up worse?? Any help is appreciated.....

An 07 Ram was probably built in 06, this gives the truck 7 years of sitting and having the paint cooked. Clear coated paints will fade less quickly than single stage paints since the clear coat provides a protective barrier over the color coat. Wax will make the paint shine and the water bead off the finish quickly, but it provides very little protection from the ultra violet rays of the sun that cause the paint to fade. Red clear coated paint get darker as it ages but even with a clear coat the color coat will fade as the top layer of color breaks down from the ultra violet rays of the sun. This deterioration will start to affect the color the moment the paint is exposed to UV Rays although the change is usually very subtle during the first 2 - 3 years, but will increase to the point where you will see it easily after 7 - 10 years. Since your badges have been sitting there since they left the factory, that area of the paint did not gett affected by the UV rays and therefore are a different shade than the rest of the truck, doing anything to the Clear coat will not help since it is not the clear coat that has changed over the years but the color coat that has.
