Default Dee-Zee tailgate assist.

I've seen threads about the Dee-Zee tailgate assist and polls with about 24% of people that have installed them are having issues with the nutsert coming loose.

A few questions I have are :

Does it matter what side you install it ?

Can you install one on each side of the tailgate ?

This may spread the load / weight of the tailgate over the two shocks / nutserts.

I installed mine and have had zero problems. If you install it correctly I don't foresee problems. I wouldn't recommend both sides. One side will always take the brunt of the weight.

I've had a few issues with the nutsert, but a wrench, and a few seconds, always cinches it right back up.

You have to install it on the driver side...won't function properly on passenger side.

I don't have one of these just yet, but I've read a bunch of reviews on it so I thought maybe I could chime in and also ask a question.

First, I don't think it would work on the drivers side as it adds a little bit of outward pressure on the tailgate, since the passengers side is where the notch is located to remove the tail gate I assume it would push the tailgate out and thus push the hinge where the removal notch is....

and my question: would a little bit of blue thread lock work to keep the nutsert thingy from coming loose?

I've been wondering about the one designed and sold by Genos Garage.
I looks like it mounts differently and is nor in the gap between the bed and tailgate, plus it also assist putting the tailgate up.

They say you can close tailgate with two fingers.

I just got my new 2014 1500 reg cab and the first time I went to put down the tailgate I found a nice surprise..... the dealership must have install one of these on the truck!!! I checked it and it seems nice and tight so far but will check it every once in a while to make sure it stays tight.
