Default Lowered 22"s or 26's.

I'm lowering my truck (2/3). I decided with boosting the truck spinning those 36" tall tires was taking a lot away from the truck.

I can't decide if I want to do 26's with 305/30/26. Or do 22's on 305/45/22 and do like a prostreet look.

I found a company who will make me 22's how ever I want them (20x10 front 20x12 rear, custom machined). I think I might do simulated beadlock to really give it that pro street look.

If I did 26's I would do white kmc slides like these.

The 22" beadlock/drag look I havent seen someone do yet. Rims would look something like this all around with our with out beadlock.

Thoughts?

Running a set of 26" wheels will be as bad, if not worse, than running 36" tires. It's all about where your rotational mass is. A 26" wheel has a LOT of it's weight on the outer rim, and compare that weight to the mass of rubber of the 36" and you'd be very close to the same moment of inertia numbers. I would run the 22s if you want to run a bigger wheel and downsize the tire.

I run 26's now with a 315/40/26 (35.9" tire), so a 305/30/26 would be a pretty big difference.

If you care about your ride quality, you'll see a huge downgrade from your current tires to the rubber bands around the 26s. A 22" wheel will allow you to keep a good ride quality by allowing the tire to take its designed sprung load compared to having almost zero spring rate from the 30 series tire. Just something to think about.

I have personally been looking for a set of 24s I like that I can run a 35 series tire just to keep some tire spring rate, then swap to a 17" drag radial combo when I hit the track just to reduce the rotational mass.

I'd say go with the 22's for the reason Kurtis listed above.

I was in your position last year and I'm glad I went with 22" srt replicas. They have a similar look to the KMC slides but with a bit more meat (305/40/22). They fill out the wheel wells just right and you could paint match them white...if you're into that kind of thing.

What size of tire would you roll on 24s?
