Default Should I get paint protection film?

The last truck I owned got a few rock chips on the front of the hood and grille. I'm looking into paint protection film. It's gonna run me about $800 to wrap the front of the ram. I'd like to hear from some owners who have had paint protection for a little while? I saw some negative reviews online that suggested yellowing after a couple of years and white build up along the edge from waxing. Is there any truth to these claims? How do clear bras hold up over the years?

Thanks,

Pete

I installed it on my 05 Tbird 8 yrs ago and it still looks like new ...you hardly notice it just walking by.
I think some of the manufacturers will even warranty chip damage if it gets past the film. I would highly recommend it as far as waxing you just need to pay attention to the edge and wipe it in the same direction. No big deal

i think heat and sunlight would be a factor in yellowing. i would check with folks who live in your location.

The good stuff like Xpel doesn't yellow. I have it on my Focus and you can't even tell it's there. I can polish/wax it too which is nice.

Thought about it for the truck, but it's a truck.

Yeah I hear ya. My only issue is the front grille and bumper aren't chrome. They are painted. So there will be a lot of chips if I don't protect it.

That seems a bit pricey IMO.

I believe the good products like 3M and xpel are highly resistant to UV. I have some in small areas(like the tailgate handle area) on my truck but only for a year or two. Looks like new though, can't hardly tell it's there.

I checked around and that is the going rate here in Los Angeles. The wife thought so too and told me no way, it's too close too Christmas. So I guess I'm not getting it. She rarely says no. So I guess ill comply this one time. The spray in Bedliner is only $350. I told her she ain't taking that one away from me. Ha!

That seems more reasonable. What bed liner is $350?

Arma coatings. I had it installed on a truck I had years ago and was very happy with it.
