Default Auto to manual tranny?

Hey guys Ive been playing with the idea of swapping out my auto trans in my truck with a manual. But from what Ive seen they didnt make 2500 manual gassers! Is there anyway to make a diesel trans work with my truck and if so what all do I need to change/do?

thanks!

I do know the bellhousing is different for a 5.9 Magnum and a Cummins/V10 engine. At the very least, you'll need a trans adapter.

The NV4500 was used by all engines from the Cummins I6 to the V10, and all V8 gassers. The Cummins and V10 have a different bolt pattern than the Magnum V8's. You need the V8 bellhousing.

There arealot of steps to the swap. If you have gear box the easyest thing to do is try to find a donor 5 speed. A 1500 will work I think the nv3500 bellhouse will fit 4500. Now the othe things you will need are computer, driveshafts. The tailshafts are differnt from auto's. Now the easyest one to find is a 5.2 manual there are 2500 manuals out there. But there ether ratted out fleet trucks or privet owners that owner might be hard pressed to give up. I have a manual in my 1500 I'm going to have a hard time giveing it up if something ever happens to it.

Okay since I've done the swap...

A NV3500 DOES NOT have a removable bell.
The NV4500 has a removable bell, they made TWO different bells. One was the small block V8, which will fit any of the Magnum V6 or V8 engines, and the Cummins/V10 bell.

It isn't too hard to convert the NV4500 diesel to the gasser, that's what I did. you will need to swap the input shaft (and shaft retainer of course lol) and bellhousing, and you will need to check the output shaft, the diesels used two different output shafts, and one of those will work with the standard V8 tcase (4wd)/drivshaft yoke (2wd), the other is larger and will require a different yoke.

I swapped from the 46RE to the NV4500HD with a 241DLD. If you are interested in doing the swap, I can tell you all you will need to get and do. I have about 1500 miles on my swap with no problems, I'm happy i did it and will never go back to the dodge slushbox autos.

As far as cost goes, if you can get parts reasonably priced, you can get it done for under a grand. I spent $8000 because I bought ALL new or REMAN parts, most people won't need all new though.

And yes they made 2500 and 3500 manual gassers, no manual transmission V8 1500s, the V6 1500 could have a manual.

If your's is gasoline, you can either use the NV3500 or the NV4500, I used the NV4500 because I do a lot of heavy towing.
