Default obamma moving to tax you driven miles

Obama administration floats draft plan to tax cars by the mile based on your black box.

As America's road planners struggle to find the cash to mend a crumbling highway system, many are beginning to see a solution in a little black box that fitsneatly by the dashboard of your car.
The devices, which track every mile a motorist drives and transmit that information to bureaucrats, are at the center of a controversial attempt in Washington and state planning offices to overhaul the outdated system for funding America's major roads.

What happened to the TARP trillion dollars of Obama's shovel ready funding to repair these roads and bridges. He bragged about it constantly. We don't know what happened to the money. Better ask Mr. President who spent it all.

The Federal & State highways get Road Taxes from the gasoline & diesel taxes at the pump,
Trucking outfits also pay extra taxes because of the weight of the big rigs
it is more then enough to maintain & build new highways, BUT the government has seen fit to redirect those taxes to other places

In California for instance
the Department of Transportation got all their funding from the taxes at the pumps, & there was a huge excess of money in the account.
At that time the Dept. that received the funds was called in 1961 the

California established the Highway Transportation Agency that consisted of the Department of Public Works (which included the Division of Highways), Department of Motor Vehicles, and the California Highway Patrol.
That excess money was to good to be true to some members of the California Legislature, but they could not touch it, because of the all tax money received from the pumps had to go to the Highway Dept., which meant the Highways, DMV, & Highway Patrol.
So these schemers decided to change the name of that Dept., therefore they could write brand new regulations about how the taxes were to be used.
This new Branch of the California Government was called
CALTRANS, that stands for California Transportation Department
under the new regulations, any taxes that came from the Fuel Pumps, could now be used for anything that involves Transportation
That included building & maintaining Highways, DMV, Highway Patrol, Airports & Planes, Railroads & Railways, & they are beginning to enter other parts of the transportation industry, first by regulations & who all knows whats next.

Now California the Fuel Tax Fund is almost broke, so our roads are falling apart & they are looking for other ways to build the Fund back up, that means higher taxes & new names for bogus offices
freakin' politicians !!!

Not ignoring the issue we are having here but it's still America. We are the ones that allow these things to happen. I think most of it falls under the category of complacency.

We can't have maintained roads because we must keep illegal aliens on welfare and supplied with Obama phones.

I think it's a good idea.
Right now we're taxed by vehicle cost/weight each year at registration, and by gas usage. It makes the heavy/large vehicles that drive more, that cause more road wear, to pay more in taxes. But you got some people now, tooling along on their 100 mpg scooters, or little fiesta's, or little hybrids, and they burn less gas and are lighter, so that's a tax problem.

Why should a 16 year old on his moped pay less than someone in a Hummer? It's not fair. An added tax on mileage is the only answer. Now, every vehicle has an odometer, and yes, that could be recorded every year at inspection, or by it's self at states without inspection, but that would only provide mileage for taxation. Why not use this as an opportunity to accomplish so much more? A much better idea is a GPS black box in every vehicle. The following are just a few of the possible advantages of this:

1) Black box GPS prototypes are already developed/being developed, with government/Mfg relations already growing. With mandates of a box in every vehicle this would be great $$ business for the Mfg, with the customer footing the bill and/or with possible subsidies to enrich all involved.

2) GPS data could be used by law enforcement to help you if you exceed the speed limit, and without the inconvience of being stopped. Simple monetary letter in the mail. No more hassle

3) The data can be helpful to allow government to know where you are at all times, in case you need their help.

4) The data could help you, should a crime happen in the area that your vehicle was identified as being near to, or passing by, be united with authorities allowing then to quickly question you if you are OK.

5) The data could also be useful for identifying your general habits, such as how long you are parked in front of a bar area, or gun show etc..

6) The data could even be useful to send you a monetary driving lesson if you happen down the wrong end of a one way street.

I think the positive possibilities are endless. I'm sure there are more ideas to come.
