Default Bad Problem with Paint (2014 Black Exp QC)

So, @ 08:15 PM.... Monday, of last week I brought home a brand new 2014 Ram Black Express QC. I couldn't visually inspect the truck because during the day it was dirty on the lot, and when I took delivery at night it was....well, Night. So I took the truck to be cleaned (Short on time), and when I gave the truck a once over, I noticed some paint defects I have never seen before on a new vehicle. some of which were buffer swirl marks and some that were under the clear coat. It may appear that the truck had some paint issues and they attempted to either hide or remove the problem with a detailing. I have already contacted the dealer last week, and my salesman told me that I would have to contact a manager to see what can be done. Honestly, When I told the salesman that I was having some paint issues, his reply was "Huh?, Paint issues? what do you mean?".... almost as if he already knew that the vehicle had a problem from the beginning (you had to have heard him on the phone). attached are some photos.... do you think I will have a problem with the dealer? Any Tips on how the conversation should go? what do you think I should expect? I want the truck to be repainted!! but is that unreasonable?

Ask for the truck to be repainted. If they refuse start asking about their return policy. Yes you can return a car/truck. At the same time start asking for the contact information of their supervisors as far up as you need to.

You are another of the unlucky ones. Join our group. Lots of posts about Ram paint and how issues were resolved or not resolved. Makes for interesting reading.

A total repaint is not a good idea. To do it right the truck has to be completely stripped down. Box removed, windows removed all emblems removed, etc. You still might have paint problems. I have only known of one forum member who got a new truck because of bad paint.

It's hard to tell from your pics, but I think the buffer marks can be polished out. They should have never left the dealer's shop looking like that. Someone really messed up.

The dirt/etc. under the clear coat might be able to be carefully wet sanded out and then polished. If done by a person who knows what he is doing, the clear coat should still be pretty much OK.

Your chances of having your truck taken back by the dealer are somewhere between slim to none. That's just the way it is.

When I bought picked up my Ram, I thought that I was being careful...really careful. I never thought to look for paint nibs. I was looking for more major scratches, dings, misaligned body panels, etc.

It appears that most of the trucks with paint have been assembled the Warren, Michigan Assembly Plant. Chrysler really needs to do something about it.

As far as working with your dealer. Be patient, but don't give up until you reach some satisfaction.
