Default Turn Signal Issue

Wonder if anyone else is having this issue with their '14 truck...?

Driver side front turn signal is illuminated, but but only flashes when it wants, it seems. All other signals work. I get the "signal light out" message, but its obvious its not out, its just not flashing. Sometimes the flasher blinks fast, sometimes not.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. The current draw from the bulb makes the flasher cycle as well as turns the "bulb out" light on when there is no draw with the switch on. I'd check the bulb connection and replace the bulb and flasher, they're cheap and easy to change. If that doesn't do anything then I'd let the dealer check it out. I'm not a fan of having dealerships let their $5/hr punks screw around with my vehicles unless absolutely necessary because they usually end up doing more harm than good.

So, i found the connection finally.....it wasn't loose or showing corrosion. All I did was unplug it and plug it back in....seems to be working fine now, but im not gonna be too overly optimistic until I get a few days of use with no problems. I wonder if this is a hangover from last years turn signal recall issue?

Default Update

A bit of an update here....

After a few days of tracking when the problem occurs, i've narrowed it down to only happening when the headlights are on. Not just running lights, but actual night time driving headlights. During the day, no problems. Night time, problems. I proved it by driving around last night with headlights on, then off, and cycling my signals. Consistent results. In addition, when the headlights are activated, i hear a rapid clicking from under the dash about 30 seconds after turning them on.

So, if you can possibly help with this problem, id love to hear your suggestion! Im not a fan of bringing it to the dealer, btw....hoping to figure out a fix without involving them.

Could just be a computer issue and you need the dealer to reflash it.

Not sure about the Ram since mine is still in transit, but it may have something to do with the park lights. Does the Ram have separate park lights or are they the same lights as the signals? Also, I believe the Ram still turns off the headlight on the side that the signal is selected, correct? It shouldn't have anything to do with the headlights unless it is a computer problem, but most likely could involve the park lights if it is a connection or flasher issue. Try your experiment again just turning the light switch to the park light position and see what happens. Either way, I'd change out the flasher. A flasher is only $5 and should simply plug in under the dash somewhere usually.

Update....

Problem seems to be temperature sensitive. I traveled from my home (where current temp is -28 Celsius), to Vancouver BC, where it was a balmy plus 1, for a 4 day visit to see my kid. NO ISSUES AT ALL. WTF?! Im so confused. On the way home last night, as soon as I hit Kamloops where the temp dropped to about -20, the problem started again. I have an appointment at the dealer for the 22nd. I feel like a turd driving a brand new truck and my bloody turn signal doesnt work....lol. Im wondering if the condensation in my headlight ass'y might have something to do with it...? (yes, dealer will be looking at that as well).

A little off topic....2 weeks into ownership, 3800 kms on the odometer, and loving every minute (except for the signal issue).

Ive been informed that my model doesnt have a flasher. Something to do with premium lights....? (I dunno, I forgot where I put my electronics degree.....)

Resolved! Turns out, the wiring in the assembly was shorting out, so they replaced it. So, hopefully this help anyone else experiencing the same problem.
