It helps to have options so you can figure out pricing of trucks at different dealers. So if negotiation stall with one you just say goodbye and check out your next option. Don't be in a hurry. I was able to get 100% of the holdback plus another $900 off on my order this week. I dealt with four dealers and used aggressive internet pricing from a dealer in my region to help get my pricing from a local dealership. I didn't have a trade in so that can complicate the process. I've always sold my old vehicles rather than trade. I always felt I did better, but the sales tax savings can be a big consideration.
Thanks! Yeah I've been shopping around via stickers but have yet to figure out the holdback stuff - I plan to shop around this weekend though. I'll do this for sure.

I live way out east but work in Nassau - I've already stopped at Westbury as I purchased two vehicles from them in the past. I'm going to Security tonight.

I wanted to hit the big boys first due to volume and available stock to see things up close.

I know I can do better selling my Wrangler private - I just don't have the time to deal with that. I've had terrible experiences in the past. Like us, folks want the best deal and expect things free. The perspective is funny if you think about it lol

Just worked out the holdback and invoice on a few through what I built on NADA. Goid stuff. At least I have something to start from.

My goal is to get into something new for no more than $30 over my old payment. That was my deal with wifey

I found my truck at another dealer and Browns took it from them. The dealer that had it couldn't even get the sales manager to speak to me based on what I was asking for.

By the way security dodge doesn't "trade" with other dealers.

Looked at a 2014 Max steel with a handful of options (met my short list).

Sticker: $45635
Their offer: $41977

Low balled on my trade sight unseen. I know I can do better all around.

It's a starting point.

Thoughts?

Edit: looks like they gave 100% of holdback ($1330) and gave $2300 incentives to get the number.

That's a terrible deal. The deal mentioned above is 100% of holdback off of INVOICE; not off of MSRP. A truck stickering at $45,635 should be around $39ish for an ok deal before subtracting rebates.

To make it super easy, configure a like for like model at Truecar.com. They are good about including rebates. Great place to get a good price without having to do the math

Go onto Truecars and price out your vehicle with the options you're looking at. It will give you MSRP and Invoice (FWP). Take the MSRP and subtract off the shipping cost ($1,195 most likely). Take that price (MSRP - shipping) and mutiply that by 0.03 (3%). That number equals the holdback.
A pretty good deal is Invoice (FWP) - Holdback - Rebates. I could not get that deal at any of my local dealers. The best I could get was Invoice - 1/3 Holdback - Rebates. That's an ok deal but nothing special. I ended up going to a dealer 12 hours away and got Invoice - 100% Holdback - Rebates - $2,000. That is a good deal. Good luck!

Alright so example as such:

MSRP of a different truck: 49,830
Invoice at Truecar: 42,587
Holdback: 1,459.05

So with current rebates I should offer 39,138?

The dealer I'm going to tomorrow is a high volume so well see.
