Default Don't do this at home

So the neighbor and I are working together on our adjoining logging roads for winter fire wood. I ran down the logging road and at the first turn around, on the far end of the left turn radius in 4L I misjudged the bank, goosed it to hard and slammed the right front up against the bank (flush). I shook it off, proceeded back up the logging road and finished dragging the logs up to the top.

The next day I got up, had the morning coffee and the right front was about half flat. I fired up the compressor and added air, put the water hose to it and watched it slow leak due to dirt deep in the rim for about 4". I took it down to my buddy that has a full service garage and we took tire tools out and removed the debris, once we added air we checked for leaks with a hose, this sealed it up. It could have been real bad if I had not hit flush.

LESSON for me:

The 4 low turning arc should not have "hurry" in the mix. Thought I'd share my blunder. R...

Ouch.. Ya 4Low is for sure not for speeding around with. Glad there was no serious damage and that you got it all fixed easily.

Thanks all. It had just started a light rain and I was trying to get my 36 year old neighbor out of the rain (I pushed beyond the laws of physics and truck capabilities). R...

Good write up...that moster torque of the diesel can get a fella in trouble in 4lo,

Are you running the stock tires?

My buddy has a Ram almost identical to mine and he is still running the stock tires. They don't "pooch" out from the wheel at all and he has scraped his wheels a time or two. They are pretty boogered up now. My 305's pooch out from the wheel a bit and I know that has saved them more than once from being damaged.

I hate to say it but I wouldn't run stockers. I see our HEMI guys on this board with the stockers and I'd be afraid to get off the pavement with them. I tend to get new sets for personal rides and let my tire guy (local) give me a value number to knock off my bill. You bring up a good point though. The truck in the mishap is my old Ram 4x4 360 farm truck and the tires do not extend out as you describe. My diesel does with a level on 285/75/16's, and one I just picked up has 17/11.5/33's in which case the tire rubber would have prevented the rim from banging the bank (at normal PSI). 305's there's some money!
