Default Transmission replacement option.

Good afternoon fellow citizens. Once again my world famous* Dodge has caused me many nights in the garage drinking beer like it owes me rent money. The good news. I know the issue, Torque converter possible transmission Just going to replace transmission with one from junk yard. However my question is will one from a 318 be compatible with the 360 4 speed auto? As always i offer a reward of the very best the internet has to offer. Behold!

There shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you use the original fly wheel.

Thanks Warlock! Again to my rescue! I was almost certain they would be interchangable, however at a local picknpull I was told that it HAD to be another one that was mated to a 5.9 and not from a 5.2

They will interchange with no problem but the a500 (44re) were used behind the 5.2 and 3.9 motors, while the a518 (46re) was used behind the 5.9 motors. Also make sure you are getting an RE and Not an RH transmission. For clarification the RE is electronic control, RH is hydrolically (spl) controlled.

That's not cast in stone. The only A500 I have owned behind a 318 was in my '89 Shelby Dakota. My '90 Ramcharger has the 318/518 combo from the factory.
