Default Tailgate safety cable bolt

Hi,
Trying to install Dee-Zee tailgate assist and tried to take the tailgate cable bolt off and it is impossible to take that off. Any tricks or method?

when i put mine on i noticed that from the factory they used loctite on the bolt so i was not able to remove it with the tool they provided so i happened to have the same sized torx for a 1/2 ratchet and was able to break it loose and spin it out. also im having an issue with my safety cable no wanting to fold up correctly when i close my tailgate it wants to stay out side of the tailgate when closing and i have to make sure i tuck it in when i shut the gate i would be interested to know if yours does the same when you get it put in

if the factory used loctite to install the bolt i have always lots of luck by heating the bolt a little and giving it a few good smacks with a hammer to loosen the loctite. not too much heat you don't want to burn the paint but enough that it warms the loctite than hit the head pretty hard with a good hammer it should help.

Heat will work. But so will leverage which is a good torx with a long ratchet. Maybe a combination of both.
