Default Do's and Don't's?!

Hey all!
My name is Jordan and I'm from Lethbridge AB!
I'm still relatively new here. So I apologize if I'm making a thread when I shouldnt. But if not, yay!
Anyway, I've owned my 2009 Ram 1500 for about 2 months now. So far I've put on a new flowmaster muffler.
SO! I would honestly like all of your opinions on Do's and Don't's for upgrades on my truck.
Should I lift it? I want to, but the last lifted vehicle I owned, I had nothing but front end and diff problems!
Aftermarket performance parts. Exhaust? Cold air? Chip?
I know I'll be getting new wheels, but I'm open to suggestions.
If you guys could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

The only limit to what you want to do to the truck is how much time/money you're willing to put into it. Being in Alberta, lifting is the almost expected thing with a 4wd, and lifting these trucks is easy enough to do if you use a good suspension lift.

that is a sweet looking truck- hang out here long enough and you'll get tons of ideas - lots of advice and your wallet will feel the sting.
Advice.... decide what you want first and ask people to share pics- or do some simple searches CAI, Lift, Level, and that works well too.
There's always the gallery.... Sometimes it's hard to find just what you are looking for but it's pretty much all here.
Can't offer lift advice... I'm dropped.

Do... anything and everything you want to it, wallet permitting. Oh yeah, wife permitting, too, if you've got one of those.
Do... post up any pics of any and all the mods - kinda like show and tell.
Do... be specific when asking for help.
Don't... get a chip. I think what you meant was a tuner. OK to get a tuner, not a chip.

And finally....DO... have lots of fun!

First off, welcome to the Z. I'm sure that you'll find out stuff about your truck that you never knew that you needed to know. There are lots of folks here that are willing to help, and that help is just an ask away!

I agree with everyone else. You're limited only by your budget and what your significant other is willing to go along with.

The "big three" you usually exhaust, CAI, and tuner. These trucks have a pretty good intake set up as is, so you can save some cash there by getting a high flow filter (such as K&N drop in), Most folks tend to lean towards the Diablo tuners, other like the Bully Dogs... I'd read up on both and come to my own conclusion.

There are lots of cosmetic mods that can be done, many of them fairly cheap. Each listed below can be searched and found fairly easily.
1)Ram Eyes
2)Custom Shifter ball
3)cabin air filter
4)excessive LED lights placed variously throughout the truck

I think you get the idea...

good luck and be sure to post more pics (we love pics here)

Exco

i also agree, dont get a chip got with a programmer,. diablo makes one that works very good,.

if you like sound, i suggest a air intake (cold air) it will change the sound of your engine alot,.. not realy sure the performance is better but the sound for itself was worth it for me

also check at your local dodge that the rear differential recall has been done, if not its free of charge.

Rear diff recall has been done. I bought my truck from a Dodge dealership and that was one of the first things that they did to the truck. One thing they did not do that is a recall is the hood bumpers! My hood effing SQUEAKS! I havent had time to fix it myself. A buddy of mine is a dodge mech at the same dealership, so I do have some ins and outs.
At this point I bet everyone is wondering if I have a significant other. Well, lucky for me, I dont. And I do work in the oilfield in Alberta so my wallet can handle the things I want to do step by step.

Thanks for the replys everyone! There may not have been many, but they were helpful.

I know what a CAI is all about. I installed and AIRAID in my Jeep. So a CAI is going to be my first step. But question is, Which one?!?!?! And do I want to keep the engine cover or do I get rid of it? Ive been looking at a stage one aFe CAI.

So the things I want to do to my truck off of the top of my head are;
1. CAI
2. Exhaust (now, full exhaust, or just from the headers back?!)
3. Lift?!?!?!?!
4. Headlights/Taillights
5. Front window tint
6. Wheels (I love my tires - bf goodrich rugged terrain ats)
7. Update the sound system (just add and amp and bigger shallow mount sub with custom box)

At this point, my biggest question is the CAI. Whats your guys' opinion? Does the engine bay look better with or without the engine cover?

#1 for the cai... i'm running a k&n,. the sound is amazing, the filter is cleannable my engine cover is still on and i'll leave it their for the little heat protection it give,..

#2 exhause,.. well if your looking just for sound either get a muffler and have it install or buy the dirrect replacement from mufflex ,.. but if you want performance then maybe the headders and y pipe would be a good option

#8 performance,,.. if your looking into it maybe a diablo predator or intune
