Default Grille Insert Help ASAP

Welllll let me first start off by saying I've been doing research for a good while on grille inserts such as the RBP grille and the Royalty Core grille, and the price was just ridiculous. So I heard talk about an Ebay grille that costed just under $200 ($190 to be exact) and it seemed like a good idea! I did reasech and other people had bought the same exact grille and loved it. By the way here is the link to the exact grille I bought, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-2009-20...-/350792291183 , the company name is Grille4You. Anyways, I gave in and bought it, and got it in the mail today! It looked sooooo good and it was already powdercoated and the quality was solid. So I took my grille off my 2012 1500 express, and took off the front emblem. I put the grille on and it does not sit correctly on there! The cross on the grille is blocking it (at least thats what it seems). But the ebay description AND the instructions say its a layover insert, no cutting or drilling required. So i guess I realize the only way to get this thing to fit now is to cut the cross. Which I'm okay with because in my opinion it would look odd since you can still see the cross through the mesh. But will it still fit if i cut the cross, the reason i say that is it was most likely fitted to fit over the stock grille, Im afraid if i cut the cross out it will "fall in" and not sit on top. (if that makes since) I have some pictures of everything below. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

This is my stock grille and the Ebay grille side to side

Grille placed on top of stock grille

As you can see it does not sit right on top, The top cross is interring

notice where it says "Install Notes" it says Overlay

I really hope y'all could help me resolve this! Thanks soo much!

PS. I found this a while back but can't recall where, but this guy seemed to install the grille without cutting the cross

I have no first hand experience with this, but from what I've seen with other grills similar to this(royalty, rob, ect) you have to cut out the cross. If you look it up on YouTube there are some good instructions how to do it(I think it was a royalty core video). It will fit and not fall in because when you cut it, you leave a small amount from each part of the cross to connect the grill. IMO it will look much better cut because you can clearly see the cross through it. Look up the video before you decide how to handle it. Hope I helped.

Thanks Campb, do you know if i would have to separate my honeycomb grilled insert from the shell to cut the cross? (I say that because for some reason I can't get the I insert out of the shell) hopefully others will chime in too!

Yup, exactly what Campb said. Every grille like that I've seen requires the cross to be cut out. That should solve your problem.... and honestly if it doesn't fully, you bought an eBay grille, there's a reason it's way cheaper than RBP and Royalty Core. So it's possible there will be some fitment issues.

You will need to remove the honeycomb insert to cut the cross and then you'll be cutting the insert as well since you'll need some of it. Check out this video It's meant for a 3500 but it will be the same idea for your truck, just a slightly different shape.
