Mine actually may be an XQ as it is has been a while and I was going by memory on the model. Looks the same as SoCal's. I paid $2600 with tax, but that included the removable front window, power lock, carpeted plus roof tracks and thule racks. My full length side screens are easily removable with a small turn buckle on to corners.

It is easy to remove if you have two people but I would not try with only one. If you have a tall garage you can easily rig a pulley system and take it on/off by yourself all you want.

Leer (at least in Lynnwood, Wa) has been great in customer service as they pulled it from my 2005 for me, held it for a week and reinstalled (including re-wire) on my 2008 for about $100.

The price I got for mine was $1900 about $200 more than the XL

My XQ was $2300. That included Removable front sliding window, Remote Door Luck/unlock, 3 power points and the light (Carpet comes standard on the XQ). Also included installation. They paint them to match your truck too. Removal, not so easy with the tail light, electric door lock and power points installed. They are all hardwired in so they would all have to be removed. Never intended to remove this shell though. Hope that helps.

My ARE cost a bit over 1,000 but I did get it on sale that saved around 300 or so. Basic model with side sliders and front slider plus drop down. I like the ARE better than the LEER as do most folks around here.

IMO, good looks and a topper on a new dodge design don't go together--that fat topped tailgate sticking out makes it impossible to have a topper with a clean look at the back. I'll wait to form a firm opinion but I am sure that shelf on the back tailgate top will collect a pile of dust and crud.

Be wary of any high or mid high topped topper (that rises above cab height) if you value MPG, they will cut your mileage more than a bit.

Thanks for the info, my budget just got busted. Dr's ordered my wife to bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy so it's now up to me to pay all the bills. No biggie, I'll probably look into it next year.

Got the cap a couple weeks ago - here are a couple pics in front of the installer's shop in San Jose.

Option-wise, it's got the vented win-doors on both sides, the drop down sliding window at the front and the carpet headliner (which is an exact match for the Bed Rug I installed). Total cost was $2,330.

Very happy with it so far. Already slept in it one night - planning to eventually build a drawer/sleeping platform unit for the back.
