Default 96 Ram 2500 jerk on stop

Hi, my 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins lunges when I stop at a red light, stop sign, etc. It does it pretty much any time I get it below 10mph
It has the auto transmission.
I have been told it could be the transmission fluid and filter need changing.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it needs the fluid changed, does all of the fluid run out of the torque converter with the rest of the fluid? or does it release some other way?
