Default How much Horsepower too much???? and ....

Sounds like a crazy question right?

You can never have too much!!!

However the question ACTUALLY IS How much horse power is to much before I start to break other stock components. Like the Tranny, Transfer case, rear end etc.

I just purchased an '10 5.7 CC 4X4 w/48k and want to start my mods with a plan.

Am I OK adding 100 RWHP?? Is that too much?

Then the next question will be what is the best path to my goal?

Supercharger?
Tuner
Head Work
Throttle body
Cam
etc, etc

Last question - If I can gain 100RWHP what quarter mile times would I run.

Thanks for your help and knowledge, Matt

Well I would recommend PMing TheBlackHemi for his supercharged build as he has quite extensive experience in this subject. The concensus is to throw in an L&M transmission and a Trinity tuner with custom tune on top of your upgraded exhaust. Then if you run 27" Drag Radials on lightweight 17" wheels, your lookin into the 13's respectfully with 2WD RCSB. You being a 4x4 BigHorn, I'm very curious.

I was thinking about a supercharger, would anyone have a recommendation, or point me to a build thread?

There's a big one on here doing exactly that. I think it's under L&M 392 stage 1 and stage 2 (or something to that effect).
