Default uConnect and Pandora app

My trial uConnect subscription is up and I get an error when I try to open the new Pandora app on the 8.4 saying I don't have a current subscription. I thought you could use the Pandora app with the via mobile thing from the smartphone app or am I mistaken?

It should be good for 5 years after the purchase. The uConnect subscription for remote start, lock/unlock, and Yelp expire after a year, but the via Mobile is 5 years.

I think it's only 6 months, not a year for the trial.

Anyone out there outside of their trial period and using the via mobile for Pandora?

I'm past 6 months. The uConnect website shows subscription.

I purchased my truck on 07/17/2013 and here's what the website shows:

Advantage Package (Included Trial) Expires on: 07/17/2014

Via Mobile (Included Trial) Expires on: 07/17/2018

I'm past the 6 month trial period. I called Uconnect customer service the day the Via Mobile Apps update was released. I could't get them to work with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4). When I called, I received 3 different answers from 3 different agents as to whether I needed a subscription (Access Advantage) or not to be able to use the Via Mobile Apps. The first agent told me I needed to pay for the first month only to get the service re-activated. The second agent told me you have to pay for the Access Advantage plan every month to have the apps. Finally, the third agent said that they were free for 5 years. Ultimately, the last agent I spoke with was correct. Free for 5 years from the time your Uconnect is activated when you register.

As for the "using the via mobile for Pandora" question. The answer from me is "no". I would love to, but for some reason, there is a communication issue with my truck and my smartphone. According to Uconnect, my phone is not compatible with the Uconnect system. Funny how everything worked fine before the Via Mobile apps appeared, and all the other bluetooth communications works great (phonebook and contacts syncing, texts read to me, etc). As a result, Uconnect refuses to help me further.

I just bought a new '14 this weekend and my trial is for 1 year - till 1/20/15. But I have same problem with Pandora app using Uconnect. Says no valid subscription - yet I have Pandora on my two cell phones and computers. I can stream Pandora via bluetooth from my iPhone 5 just fine so since Pandora via Uconnect uses my data plan I'm wondering what's the point? I think I'll just stream it via the phone -- though most of the time I'm listening to XM or my iPod anyway.

I think the idea is that you could have more control over pandora on your uconnect screen without touching your phone. I think it shows album art on your screen. Not sure if it shows all your pandora stations?

Yes, it shows album art and a drop down list of your stations. You can also like and dislike a song on screen. There is also an option to select higher quality audio. Takes a minute or two to load but other than that, it's awesome.

Plus, if you have an unlimited data plan, like me, I can stream all day every day without worries.

Now, if I could only get the apps to work on my truck.

In order to use any of the Via Mobile apps, you must have UConnect Access installed and running on your phone while connected. It doesn't matter if you have Pandora installed on the phone or not because the radio is using its own app. It just needs your phone for the internet connection.
