Default What MT Tires to Choose

Hey all
Looking to purchase off-road tires for my 2013 1500 Outdoorsman. This summer i put the Rough Country Leveling kit on. Want to change out the stock tires for a set of MT's. I have been looking at the Cooper SST's, Toyo Open Country's, Nitto Trail Grappler's, Or Dick Cepek Mud Country's. I have the stock 20'' rims, currently. Also not sure if i will be able to get 35's underneath or if i have to go with 33's. (prefer to get 35's). Also keeping cost in mind, as i really don't want to get very pricey. I've had BFG AT and MT's on a prior 2500. Tread wear was horrible. My best guess was d/t the 1 ton weight of the 2500. Help/Suggestions are welcome!! Thanks!

if you use a 1/4" spacer you can fit 35s.

you can't go wrong with any of those tires....

No good performing mud tire is going to last very long. Just par for the course.

Of the ones you mentioned, I'd probably get the Nittos. But, personally, I like the KM2's better.

Are you actually going to use them for their intended purposes or is this purely for cosmetic reasons?

I would say nitto or toyo. Ive heard the toyos have a stiffer sidewall and corner better but I also heard the nittos do better off road lol

I had the cooper st maxx on my tundra

they are kinda a AT/MT hybrid, so you get tons of traction but can still drive around without the MT hum

maybe check those out

I see you're in PA. Curious why you're getting ready to put MTs on with winter fast approaching? I've always heard that MTs were absolutely terrible in snow/ice? My neighbor just put some Dick Cepek MTs on his Tacoma and the tres are all solid - they don't have the little cuts through them like an AT would for traction in wet/snow/ice.

Out of your options, Toyos.

An a/t tire is probably better in ice but the Toyo m/t works fine in snow. I've had them in 2+ feet with no issues. And the Toyos are siped (the little cuts you mention).

I run the 35/12.50/17 Toyo open country M/T's and love em.
With the stock rims, its not the height thats the problem, it is the width of the tire. I have -12 offset rims to run my tires and had to do minor trimming on the plastic wheel wells at the bottom because when backing up and turning into a driveway I had little bit of rubbing.
