Default getting '13 mega longhorn will it do a 5th wheel

Just trading my 2011 Laramie for a LongHorn Mega cab. The bed measures 74 I THINK and is the same as the Laramie. SO, it will fit a fifth wheel mount??? Almost too late as I'm about to sign. Anyone driving a mega cab diesel and towing a 40foot 5th wheel??!!! THANKS for some insight. This LongHorn is just magnificent!!!!

Yes it will work. You'll want to get a slider 5th wheel hitch vs. a fixed mount. Your RV dealer can help with that.

i would think the answer is what is the weight of the 5th wheel, and what is your truck rated for. i have seem some 5th wheels that cannot be towed by a 1500.

Most 5th wheels aren't meant for 1500's.. We have a few on our lot.. So much smaller due to weight limits. Hell we have 1 that makes a 3500 undersized.

Yeah just make sure to have a slider hitch (superglide very common.. Husky has a real fancy one but is big $$) or you will blow out the back window on a turn with the fixed fifth wheel hitch.

Thanks everyone. After I got home I searched and the bed is the same size as the Crew I traded. I though it lost about 6-8 inches because of the mega cab - this is a LONG truck. I have a slider and the trailer is about 12,000# so the mega cab is better suited than the 2011 2500 cummins I traded. Unfortunately it threw a code today, less than 24 hours owned. The dealer send a tow truck and maybe I'll get it Monday. Appreciate the feedback...

Well other then the code issue.. You are all set up to get on towing.. After the slider is installed.. The new cummins are a pain in the rear end to install especially if they are like the Husky style with 2 other extra bolts going into the bed in the middle of each cross sheild.. Right above the spare tire..
Just out of curiosity.. What brand of Fifth wheel do you own?

2012 Sierra 356RL by ForestRiver 5th wheel. Can't remember but believe its right at 12,000 empty. It pushed my 2011 pre HD 2500 crew to its limit on paper but front and rear axles weighed in under the limit attached and full of gas. This new HD is stronger and everything looks right. I WAS going to have it all weighed until that P0733 code. They just told me they've been working on it since this morning. Believe me, ALL the red is licked off this candy and I have zero faith in it. I told the service rep I wanted a life time tranny warranty. Like that'll happen. But if they've had their engine/tranny guru on it for 5 hours - vote of no faith and I have a 65,000$ mess.
