Default would you trade

Ok so went to the dealer today to look at diesels. i found a 2013 crew cab long bed manual trans.(yes i know you lose torque but i love manuals its the trans i grew up on.) im not to keen on the long bed portion of it but i can live with it. my dilemma is my ive done all this to my truck now but ive always wanted a manual diesel. i also have a 32 ft travel trailer that although it doesnt move alot i would be more comfortable towing it with a truck that can handle way more than it. i would be going up in payment about 200 dollars due to neg equity(trading a 13 for a 13) and the fact that its a diesel. but im getting 1575 below invoice(so says the dealers blue computer screen). I think its a pretty good deal. but i also love my 1500 just lacks in the towing area.

2013 slt crew cab long bed ram 2500 4x4 with 3.42 rear end 6 speed manual for 39,499 after rebates(not including tax tag and title) figure 43 with the three t's

Sounds like you are happy with this newer truck except for the bed size.. have you looked for another truck with a shorter bed? When the day ends, all that matters is that you are comfortable and happy with what you own. Sounds as though you would prefer this other truck, so I'd say go for it! (but maybe looking for a truck that fits your criteria perfectly)

I would love a mega cab but its more expensive and harder to talk them down because they can sell it to someone for more due to demand with the long bed I have the leverage. I did two test drives and it is growing on me especially when it comes to practicality

Well everyone here knows I am all for practicality, so can surely understand you there. If it was me and the numbers felt right, I'd go for it. Just be sure to make them fill the fuel tank and detail the truck before you agree to drive away.

I think the hardest thing to get over is the fact that diesels cost so much

It sounds to me like you don't need us to convince you LOL.

If you're happy with the deal, and you can handles the higher payments then go for it. It'll also give you a new platform to let the mods begin on...

good luck and be sure to let us know what you decide.

not a doubt I want the diesel but I've also put alot into my 1500 money wise. My question is more of a would you take the hit. They are giving me an additional 4k for the lift but I've got more than that in it and still neg on top off that 4k extra

I wouldn't do it. You are restarting a loan at whatever term you select. On top of that you are restarting at 200 bucks higher than before. Since the trailer doesn't get moved a lot it just doesn't justify the want factor for me.

I know we all love the feeling of getting something new but in this case I don't think it would be worth it in the long run.

Look at it this way. You will have 200 less each month for the new truck to mod. Not to mention I think mods, like lift kits and performance stuff, are a lot more expensive because of the heavy duty platform.

I honestly just don't think it would be worth it.

i agree with you arth and but another thing i have really been thinking of is longevity. how long before the 1500 starts needing repairs out of warranty vs the diesel.
