Default Has anyone tried this?

Have the bumper with the dual cutouts being installed. Has anyone tried cutting the pipe back just behind the spare tire and install a y pipe and re-route the pipes around the spare tire and added resonators to each side?

I was thinking this would probably be the cheapest way to get the dual tip look out the back and keep it as close to factory sound as possible. Thoughts?

I actually was going to do it that way, but I was gonna put the Y-pipe right after the muffler, it was a little crowded there though. In fact I even bought the Y-pipe, however I learned it was the wrong one anyways, I bought 3" in 2.5" dual out. The actual size needed is 3" in dual 2.25" out.

I also called muffler shops around me, none of them wanted to even try the Y-pipe thing, all of them suggested cat back systems. So I just put the Hemi system on myself, it wasn't all that hard.

But I say give it a try, if looks are all your after then go for it!

Thanks for the reply. I just set it up with my muffler shop to do this. They said they needed to move the muffler about 8" forward to make room for the y pipe. I think they are installing the y pipe just behind the muffler. Am hoping with the 2 resonators installed it will keep it fairly quiet. Will let you know how it turns out.

Sorry for the delay in getting this up. The muffler shop ended up not having enough room to move the muffler forward far enough but they ended up finding a way to put the y pipe in behind it. It doesn't sound a lot different to me a little fuller upon starting and you can here a little more aggression when getting on it but just cruising not much change...just what I wanted. Here are a few pics I took of it...

Turned out good! I was gonna do it that way but no muffler shop would touch it in my area. So I installed the Hemi exhaust. If your happy with it then it was worth it! I was also after the looks of the dual exhaust, and I didn't want it louder in any way.
