Default oil pressure gauge question

I love my truck, but it didn't come with an oil pressure gauge. Only a warning light. While changing oil, I saw a sensor near the oil filter. Question is... is that where I install the oil pressure sending unit? I want to install a "T" fitting, so I can have both, the factory warning light and an aftermarket oil pressure gauge. Thanks in advance.

I'd like to have one to. I just can't figure out where I want it. I don't really like the post mount, just me. Remember the tach mount on the old GTO's hood? I've thought about that. We'll see. Anybody got any other ideas???

I'm not sure of the set up in your truck, but if you do NOT have the center console you could always mount the gauge under the dash. That would be my first choice. It's out of the way, and you can look down at it if you feel the desire to do so.

If you've got the center console, your options are a lil more limited, but it's still possible to put it under the dash. It'll just be a lil harder to see. Personally with a center console I'd go with the gauge pod, just to keep a cleaner look.

Good luck

Exco

I guess I didn't word my question correctly. I'm not looking for the answer to where to mount the oil pressure gauge inside the truck. I would like to know where to install the sensor on the engine. I looks like the sensor for the oil pressure "idiot" light is located near the oil filter. I was hoping to install a "T" fitting, so I could use both, the light and the aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

Also, does anybody know what size pipe thread it takes. If it IS the sensor I'm thinking, it isn't 1/8th NPT. It's bigger.
