I always have to ask this silly question.. why?

I wonder why they did away with the "Fuel Saver" light that came on in my 09 for all of these new models. When that light came on you were in MDS. My exhaust and the 100k miles I have driven between two 09's also confirms this.

Sure took away all the questions or guess work about whether or not you are in 4 or 8 cylinders.

Conditions have to be right, no wind and basically flat, (easy in CA) and keeping it in "Fuel Saver" (Eco) mode.

I have seen my friends '13, 4wd Hemi, 8 speed reach 25 highway so it is not impossible. Thing is it had 2k miles so it may even get a little better as it breaks in. Much of this is about driving style also it also has 3.21 rear. These are hand calculations.
Yes, well thanks for that confirmation Ramzaq. I certainly have no reason to pump up the facts. I know I have a Hemi 5.7 as it is all over the mateirals and the emblem on the side and the original sticker. It easly hits 25 to 26 mpg at 60-65 mph. Antother thing that helps maybe a bit is that I went for a 4x2 purposely which might help a bit. I don't need 4x4 around here and could not justify the extra 3 grand for it. That might give a slight edge on some mpg. I don't tow, I don't play in mud, I don't need 4x4. I got a lot for that 3 grand that I used all the time. It's been a pleasure gleaning from all of you here. It's a great forum and a great asset and resouorce. Jack ":-D

But it's not near that around town, but if the truck's own factory equipment is to be believed it's getting 25/26 hwy. And the emblem that says 5.7 HEMI and BIG HORN emblem. Isn't that what 2013 RAM is advertising anyway? This EVIC has a number of options to scroll through. One comes up looking similar to a speedometer, but shows live second by second your mpg as the throttle is pressed/depressed. If I do a lot of hwy on a trip it's been averaging about 20mpg. Of course there's only about 550 miles on the truck. If there is a lot of town driving in that trip, then it's significantly lower.

Sorry if I was not clear. The only other thing I know to do is take a cell photo but I believe I've answered the question. ":-D
My comment was intended as a Tongue-in-cheek statement only. I am a new RAM owner myself and have been only getting 19.5 mpg on the highway at 65 mph. Of course my truck only has 850 miles on it and I hope the fuel mileage improves as it gets broken in.

Gotcha Mr. SivlerCreek: Can't explain the difference except that as mentioned above I have 4x2. I've heard that can make a 1 or 2 mpg difference. Your 19mpg is from your EVIC display, correct? Just curious.

Well the guy that sold it to me just a day or so ago when I picked up the tags said to me if you're getting 25mpg hold on to this baby. I thought, well that's what they advertise. I have a feeling though that I have a steadier foot than most. I've always been real conscious about mpg so I have a soft foot on the throttle. Do you ever see the number 25mpg on that EVIC display? Just curious if you have a sec to respond. Again, maybe my 4x2 accounts a little for the mpg. Lot's less weight I'd think.

Mine is also a 4x2. The 19mpg reading is from the EVIC. The window sticker on my 2013 RAM Laramie Longhorn states that the combined city/hwy fuel mileage as 16mpg with the city average being 14mpg and highway fuel mileage 20 mpg.

I also am very conscience of fuel economy with gas prices being so high. I rarely drive over the speed limits and generally will drive 5 mph under the speed limit without impeding the traffic.

If you will review the 25mpg advertisement you may find that they are talking about the RAM with the 6 cylinder engines. They show you a RAM with a 5.7 Hemi but they are really talking about the truck with the 6 banger when referring to the fuel economy. I caught that while I was shopping for a new truck and before finally purchasing my new RAM.

I had the sticker scanned but not the side that has the mileage stats. It's in the truck. I see a short road trip in my future with my cell phone. Say a prayer I don't kill myself. LOL

Well I know it's not necessary but for future conversations and even this one I've got to have a photo of that 25/26. Be a tight fit I think steering with one and pointing the cell at the cluster but I think I can do it. I have plenty of long rural roads around here, safe.

I can see where ya'll might think I'm talking out my butt!!

I tried to Zoom in on the sticker, got kinda blurry but I could see that you have the more expensive Laramie Longhorn.

Yes, your's sticker is in much better shape. I had to tape mine up. My sticker was ... well I'll attach it. Let's see ... it says uploading so I guess it's successful but I have no idea how viewable it will be. My sticker was the in the high $37,000's range, a BigHorn. Not sure if the Laramie carries extra weight or not.

I'll get that photo of the dash later. You gotta pretty vehicle there for sure. This is my first. I have Jeep Wranglers from 1989 until Spring of 2012. Then for some reason my fancy turned to a truck, then a RAM truck. I don't punch the clock anymore and my income is rather small. I bought this with the Reverse Mortgage I've had and not used for several years until this purchase. I knew I had no where to be and therefore it could sit more. If I was still working at the rates I worked for I'd never be able to afford the gas. As it is, I can pick and choose how much I use it. Now I'll post and see if that attachment can be view. ":-D Afterthought: Quad cab is lighter than Crew Cab. If you have the 40 gallon tank that's potentially 112 more pounds. It begins to add up.
