get a hemi

i have 35" mud tires, and can break them lose with no problem. FM exhaust, CAI, and superchips tuner. (an actual tuner, not a "chip")

in all seriousness. I'm not sure what else you can do. Maybe your gears aren't suitable for it. but a gear change just to break tires lose would be a terrible investment, and I'm not even positive it would help.

Thanks for the info the gears that's in it right now is 3:55, and as you said I don't plan to change gearing just for more power and the jet chip is the only thing that's available for my 96 at the moment I'm waiting for SCT to bring out their x3 tuner soon for dodge, I was just using the whole breaking traction as a guidline, I care more about extra torque and power than roasting tires, I just wonder if the transmission or torque converter is getting tired, thanks again for the reply

torque converter can be tested using the brakes and gas if you know how to....I have 305's on my 1997 dodge with a 5.9 and can spin em till they pop half way down the road.

Tuners don't do shit. You need real power. I say port the heads and cam it. And you'll be good. And I would do gearS. I have 4:11s in my 00 ram 5.9 and that thing moves

I think part of the problem is unrealistic expectations of a vehicle's power and people who talk their vehicle up on the internet and stretch the truth.

My old truck with 33's and 4.10's wasn't fast, nor could it roast the tires unless the road sucked. Neither are the Hemi's I've driven (although a little faster).

Well I just (literally finished 30 minutes ago) did a full ignition tune up, new wires, cap, rotor, and even coil for good measure, and it really livened up my motor. I have not tried spinning the tires, as tires cost too much, but it make a significant difference for my 5.9.

On a motor with that many miles I would also recommend a good seafoam treatment. Run the motor, and dump seafoam very slowly down the vacuum tube for the brake booster. Very slowly so the engine does not stall for about 1/2 a can, then go much quicker, trying to make the engine stall when you finish up the 2nd half. If the motor does not stall, have someone there to turn it off right when you are done. Reconnect the brake booster line, wait 30 mins for the seafoam to brake in, then start her up, and drive the hell out of it to burn up what the seafoam has loosened up for you.
